Cygnet Springside ASC Service & Objectives
Springside ASC Services provide support for young people and their families across the North West and South West of England.
Services offered by Springside ASC Services include:
- Cygnet Springside ASC Outreach Service
- Cygnet Springside ASC Short Break Service
- Cygnet Springside ASC Shared Care Service
- Parents Support and Resources Group
All services share the same ethos and offer proactive, holistic, person centred care and support to young people and their families living with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
The services are designed to assess individual young people’s potentials and, via structured and intensive therapeutic interventions, maximize their life outcomes. Given the nature of ASC, much work is undertaken in relation to the development of social, communication and life skills; young people are also supported in managing behaviours which may otherwise impede their social development.
Springside ASC services provide exceptionally high-quality, proactive and value for money care and support packages specifically designed for people affected by Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), initially for individuals aged 5 – 19 years, with adult community support services planned.
The services recognise and reflect current best practise in the field of autism care and current legislation appertaining to child and young person care and support. To this end, the service supports young people, utilizing a person centred approach in aspiring to and achieving the five outcomes as identified in the “Every Child Matters” legislation. i.e.
- To be Safe
- To be Healthy
- To make a Positive Contribution
- To achieve Economic Wellbeing
- To Enjoy and Achieve
Cygnet Springside ASC Services
- Intensively assess, plan and evaluate the care and support of individual young people utilising best researched practise within the field of ASC care and via a person centred approach.
- Work in partnership with individual young people, their families and carers, educationalists and all relevant others to provide a service which is multi-disciplinary, consistent and holistic.
- Carry out intrinsic assessments of the young person prior to being formally admitted to the service in order to identify care, behavioural and safety needs.
- Undertake a plethora of risk assessments in relation to all aspects of the young person’s safety.
- Provide a highly proactive program of support, designed to recognise potentials and maximise future outcomes.
- Are transitional in nature, recognising the ever changing needs of young people and accounting for their goals and aspirations.
- Support families in a holistic and bespoke way.
Springside Staff Training and Development
Cygnet Health Care ensures that all employees receive training
in
all mandatory areas, such as fire training, moving and handling, first
aid etc. The Springside services offer training specific to the needs
of those staff working with young people with ASC and associated
learning and behavioural disorders, including subjects such as
behavioural management, autism awareness training, epilepsy care,
advanced first aid, direct working and many others. The service also
strives to ensure that all support staff are qualified to a minimum of
NVQ level three in child care.

"Working for parents of all Asperger people aged fourteen and more"
Cheshire Asperger Syndrome Parents Action for Resources was formed by John Irons in 2002 in response to the problem that there were no groups representing parents (and other carers: grandparents, relatives or family friends) who care for Asperger syndrome (AS) adults and adolescents older than 14. CASPAR is unique in two respects - It is concerned exclusively with AS and it caters for the parents/carers of AS people who are adults or adolescents.
CASPAR comprises parents and carers of adult and adolescent Asperger people and professionals or well-wishers, who are able to offer skills in the campaign to create services for Asperger people.
CASPAR
is primarily an organisation for parents but we welcome, as members,
any professional person or well-wisher willing to offer his/her skills
in the campaign to create services for Asperger people.
